Delton Porter

Delton Eugene Porter, 74 of Bryant passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015. He was born in Little Rock on November 21, 1940 to Columbus Delton and Dannie (McIver) Porter. He was a member of the Church of Christ, a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner and was a Veteran of the United States Army. He retired from the banking business as a Commercial Loan Underwriter.

Gene had the ability to have a different and unique relationship with all his acquaintances and family and everyone felt the special place they occupied in his life. His children and grand-children delighted his heart. He and his wife felt they were the fabric of each other's life. She will miss him until they are together again.

He loved working with wood and making little masterpieces that were authentic down to the smallest details. He sold several pieces at the Quapaw Quarter gift shop that had to be voted on to be placed in the gift shop. Gene's work quickly sold out and they requested as many more as he would provide. Because of the time and work each piece represented, he declined.

He loved to travel and was making plans to travel with his wife after his surgery was completed. While the children were small, the family made several trips around the United States, Mexico and Canada. He was a wonderful caretaker for his Mother, Step-father and assisted his wife in the care of her parents. He was a truly moral man and his word was his bond.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Porter of Bryant; children, Jim Porter (Christine) of Bryant, David Porter of Conway, John Porter (Elle) of Ft. Campbell, KY; grandchildren, Logan Porter, Ethan Porter, Conner and Chloe Porter; aunt, Glenna Waller of Little Rock; nephews, Danny Porter, Brad Porter, Larry Waller, and niece, Becky McNeil and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Bill Porter, and two grandchildren, Tristan Porter and Alaina Porter.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 3rd at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), with Dr. Bill Brown officiating, followed by burial with Military Honors at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander. Visitation will precede the service starting at 10:00 a.m.

Donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P. O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
