Dee Ann McClain Howell went to Heaven March 11, 2023. Our lives will never be the same. Her husband of 43 years, William Rene Howell was with her at home, by her side at the time of her death.
Dee Ann was born August 5, 1953 to the late Kenneth Radford McClain and Josie Dee Reynolds McClain in Austin, Texas. The second daughter of a Military Family, Dee Ann lived the early part of her life in Tripoli, Libya. The family eventually settled in Little Rock, Arkansas where she attended Little Rock Central High School.
Following high school graduation in 1971 Dee Ann attended Harding University. It was at Harding Dee Ann received her B.A. in Elementary Education and her M.A. in Teaching. Dee Ann retired as a teacher from Pulaski County Special School District where she had been since 1998. She received many accolades and was invited to become a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, honoring outstanding educators. Dee Ann continues relationships with many of her former students, delighting in their successes.
Dee and Bill married in 1980 and had one daughter, Amber Nicole, the light of her life. In addition to her husband and Amber she is survived by three grandchildren, Kaden Cole Sossamon, Addileigh Avery Bailey and William Bryan Bailey who brought love and joy to her life every minute of every day.
Dee Ann is also survived by her sisters, Brenda McClain and Marion Greene; her Aunt, Marvine Ely, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dee Ann loved and spoiled all their many animals. We always thought she was really talking about herself when saying about her daughter, âAmber could spot a stray animal three blocks away behind a house.â
To us, Dee Ann was the best cook. Never needing a recipe, Bryan could eat âDeeDee beans any time of the day.â Addleigh loved her âchicken on a bone.â These items were kept âon the readyâ for both children.
Dee Ann read to her grandchildren continually. Their family favorite book is âI Love You Forever.â
- Robert Munsch, Sheila McGraw
. I'll like you for always. As long as I'm living, my baby you'll be.' ' I'll love you forever.
Her early 60âs saw cancer and surgeries that would buckle most. No matter her pain, there was always a smile on her face for everyone she met. Dee Annâs husband, Bill and her daughter Amber took extraordinary care of her.
Dee Ann McClain Howell was much loved and saying we miss her doesnât even touch the surface of our hearts. Her favorite Bible verse was Phillipians 4:6, 7. Donât worry about anything; instead pray about everything: tell God your needs and donât forget to thank Him for his answers.
If you do this you will experience Godâs peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.
