DeB Longbotham, of Cabot, passed away June 13, 2008, at the age of 80, after her second battle with breast cancer.

She was born October 1, 1927, in Iowa. She graduated high school at the age of 16, attended University of Iowa for her B.A. in Science and worked as a medical technologist. She met Lt. Col. Ralph M. DeB developed her passion for flowers while in Tokyo, and became president of Ikebana International. In Heidelberg, she became syndicated as a newspaper columnist for Stars and Stripes.

In Arkansas, DeB helped revitalize the Republican Party, volunteering in campaigns from Rockefeller to Bethune to Reagan. She helped implement the Mountain Springs Volunteer Fire Department, and served over a decade on the board of the Lonoke County Council on Aging. Her philanthropy included causes near to her heart, including the Discalced Carmelite nuns, Korean War veterans, and the American Humane Society.

Predeceased by her husband, Rocky, she is survived by daughter Carol Powers and her three children of Massachusetts, daughter Lael Harrod of Cabot, tireless caregiver and son-in-law Michael Harrod, loving granddaughters Leighsan Longbotham Harrod and Alexa Kwai Harrod, and beloved friends Debbie, Brent, and Jo Claire Dodson.
