Dayton Thomason, age 86, of Amity, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016. He was born on July 8, 1930, in Alpine, the son of William Allen Thomason and Mary Amy Kirksey Thomason. On May 10, 1952, he was married to Wanda L. Sligh. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Larry Thomason; one brother, Paul Thomason; and one sister, Helen Wheeler. Dayton was a member of the Amity United Methodist Church. He received his Master's degree in farm management from the University of Arkansas and retired after thirty-three years of service with the Cooperative Extension Service. He served in the U. S. Army Reserves and retired as Lieutenant Colonel. He enjoyed gardening, cattle farming and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Thomason of Amity; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Pam Thomason of Arkadelphia, Danny and Carol Thomason of Floral and Jeff and Rhonda Thomason of Benton; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Larky Reeves of Arkadelphia; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice and Trillis Jester of Glenwood and Carolyn and Bob Denton of Hot Springs; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 4, 2016 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Bro. John McAnally officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Jones Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and include Justin Thomason, Michael Thomason, Jesse Thomason, Jacob Thomason, Josh Reeves, Ryan Reeves and Daniel Reeves. Honorary pallbearer will be his granddaughter, Amanda Rogers. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
