David Widener, 65, of Beebe, Arkansas passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, after a long illness. David made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as a ten-year-old boy. He was a member of Union Valley Baptist Church.
He was met at Heaven’s gates by his mother, Bettye Widener, sister, Meredith Calhoun, and father-in-law Jim Ashcraft. David was owner of Widener Insurance Agency in Beebe for twenty-four years. He enjoyed hunting, sports, coaching his sons in baseball, sometimes coaching the other coaches!
David is survived by his loving wife, Jan Ashcraft Widener, with whom he was married almost forty-five years. His sons are Drew (Lindsey) Widener of Des Arc and Drake (Laura) Widener of Beebe. He is also survived by his father Glen Widener, sisters Sheila (Bill) Noble and JoBeth (Stanley) Shadwick, all of Crocketts Bluff; his loving mother-in-law Pat Ashcraft, and brother-in-law Butch Calhoun. David leaves behind his precious grandchildren, Marley, Kanaan, Rowan, Maggie and Ella.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2019 at Union Valley Baptist Church, with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home. www.smithfamilycares.com
