David Jones

David Edward Jones, 59, of Little Rock, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 10, 2016. David was born on January 23, 1957 to Thelma and Troy Jones. He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Jones. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Tammy Thornburg Jones; sons, Joshua (Grace) and Nicholas; father, Troy Jones; sister, Linda Fletcher; brother, Roger Jones; and a host of family members and friends who loved him very much.

In his early life, David enjoyed his time in the Boy Scouts in addition to baseball and football. He attended Sheridan High School and graduated in 1975. He went on to pursue his education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. There, he met his hardest sell, the woman who sat behind him in marketing class who never entertained his casual conversation or pickup lines. Although he took longer than most to complete his college education, his perseverance paid off by winning the woman behind him, the love of his life, and future wife. His bonus was a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Minor in Insurance. He became an enthusiastic salesman, having spent the majority of his career with AT&T.

David was always the adventure seeker, and Tammy complemented his character in a perfect way. Together they began a wonderful journey of 28 years of happy memories and a beautiful family.

After attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor as a youth, he served in many adult leadership roles within Pack 604, Troop 55, and the Quapaw Area Council. He has left a lasting impression on many young men who were able to enjoy the adventure and benefits of scouting that he cherished in his youth.

David is also known for excellent cooking skills. Growing up, he would often cook for his family while his parents were working. Throughout his life, he was often found wearing an apron and towel thrown over his shoulder with spatula and cast iron skillet ready. He could make a mean hamburger that was the envy of his son's friends.

David always put his family first, even while battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia. A true test of faith and devotion to God and his family came with his diagnosis. He was the epitome of patience, he never once complained, and he would tell you he was at peace with a strong faith in God.
More than anything, David loved the Lord with all his heart. His faith in Jesus was evident in his daily walk of life. He was devoted to serving the Lord, and enjoyed yearly mission trips to Mexico City. He would tell you it is always a good time to share the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ.
