David Johnson

David Ingalls Johnson of Maumelle, 86, former regional parts manager for Subaru South and volunteer at St. Vincent's Hospital (later employed there) died October 2, 2016. Dave was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Willard Johnson and Martha Ingalls, and grew up in Kirkwood, Missouri. He worked as a lifeguard and served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Suisun in the Pacific during the Korean War. Dave made friends wherever he lived (Memphis, Detroit, Kansas City, Los Angeles, and Chardon, Ohio). In 2003, he celebrated 50 years of marriage to his wife Dotty with friends and relatives from 14 states.
He is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Koetting; daughters, Marilyn (Rob) Fleder, Mindy (Gilbert) Prowler, and Petey Johnson and son Chris (Mary) Johnson of Conway; grandchildren, Jackson, Carolyn, and Nick Fleder; Brienna (Jeff) Prowler Saunders, Alyssa and Joseph Prowler; Dustin and Clint Bailey; great-grandson, Niko Saunders; and many dear nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Smitty, sister, Marilyn, and son, David Jr. His tremendous strength, Dotty's loving care, and the skill of the VA's home health care and Arkansas Hospice eased his last days. An informal gathering will be held at Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 8, 2016.
In lieu of flowers, please love a dog in his memory.
