James David Hickman, 79, passed away in Little Rock AR on December 11, 2022. Born in Little Rock 1943, graduated from Mabelvale High in 1961. David started as an electrician after High school, worked to obtain his journeyman’s license and then was very proud of the fact that he obtained the Arkansas Master Electrical License (#7) before starting his Delta Sign and Electric business. He also taught Electrical at the Arkansas Construction Education Foundation in Little Rock for many years. He worked in the electrical field for 52 years, retiring in 2013.
He is preceded in death by his parents; James Scott Hickman and Gwina Faye Vance; Brother, Don Hickman; Son, Timothy Scott Hickman. He is survived by; Wife Elaine Hickman; Siblings Kenneth Vance and Verna Dame; Children; Warren and Susan Hickman of Helotes TX, Tim McAlister of Jacksonville AR, Tammy Hickman of Little Rock AR; 11 Grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, Alicia, Ricky, Rachel, Shannon, Michelle, Samantha, Nick, Conner, Ben and 10 Great-grandchildren.
David was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, and friend.
The family would like to thank the staff at St Vincent’s Medical Oncology floor and Arkansas Home Hospice for their excellent care of David.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday December 16, 2022, at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct, Little Rock, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you support Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Arkansas Hospice Foundation, and Arkansas Carti.
