David Joseph Cassinelli, 76, of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s on January 16, 2023.
He was born to Richard and Louise Cassinelli on July 9, 1946. David was named after his paternal Italian grandfather, Louis David Cassinelli, and maternal German grandfather, Joseph Jung. David grew up in a vibrant Catholic home where nothing was more important than family, a tradition he continued until his dying day. After graduating from Catholic High School in 1964, David went on to own and operate a successful vending company, Interstate Vending, for the next 39 years before retiring in 2004.
An avid sportsman whose fishing and hunting expeditions spanned from Alaska, to New Mexico, to Africa. David designed and built a remarkable animal room in the beloved family home that visitors never stopped being in awe of. Above all else, his main passion was being a founding member of the Trappers Island Hunting Club on the Cache River where he spent decades duck hunting with his family and friends.
As a longtime colleague said, David was someone I could count on in banking, baseball coaching, and building a better community. He treated his family to many adventurous vacations across the country, summers at the houseboat on Lake Ouachita and even the occasional trip to Las Vegas, hoping to hit the jackpot. His family certainly knew they hit the jackpot having David in their lives.
David is preceded in death by his parents and three older siblings; Dolores, Virginia and Dickie. He had a particular devotion to his brother Dickie with Down Syndrome and made sure he always had a job helping around the vending company.
David is survived by his beautiful wife Linda of 41 years who devoted her life to taking care of David in his final years. He is also survived by his four adoring children David, Angela, Anthony (Courtney) and Lindsey and six grandchildren Breanna, Cam, Cate, Campbell, Poppy and Jack Henry.
Memorials may be made to Catholic High School, the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice Home Care in David’s honor.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 24th at Smith Family Funeral Home in North Little Rock from 4:00-6:00pm followed by a Rosary Service.
