Darrell Randolph Rowland

Darrell R. Rowland, 93, of Jacksonville, went to meet his heavenly Father, on Saturday, July 21, 2018. He was born on March 9, 1925, in Washita, AR, to the late Lum W. and Viva Montgomery Rowland.

He served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II and in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a talented mechanic who could fix anything. He enjoyed camping and traveling with his family, with yearly visits to Lake Ouachita and Destin, Florida. Darrell was one of Western Sizzlin's most loyal customers, having eaten there daily for over fifty years. He was much loved by his family and many friends.

He had a strong faith. He was a member of Word Aflame Fellowship (formerly known as the First United Pentecostal Church of LR) for over sixty years and attended the First Pentecostal Church of NLR for the past thirteen years.

Darrell is survived by four daughters, Kathern Slaten of Lonoke, TeeJay Townsend of Sherwood, Linda Dyson (Charlie) of Jacksonville and Louise Carlisle (Jerry) of Little Rock; nine grandchildren, Lauri Rowland-Hill of Ward, Angela Justice of Sherwood, Jay Townsend (Sheri) of Mayflower, Charlyn Dyson of Calico Rock, Sandy Carter (Rob) of Barberton, Ohio, Lena Ferguson (Jeremy) of Arkadelphia, Stephen Carlisle (Holly) of Little Rock, David Carlisle (Teresa) of Little Rock and Jeremy Carlisle (Courtney) of Denver, Colorado; 16 great-grandchildren, Stephanie Pack (Thomas), Heather Johnson (Matt), Nicole Rodriguez, Darren Waddles, Bethany Hill, Jade Gray, Summer Waddles, Payton Justice, Nelson Ferguson, Dyson Carter, Lauren Ferguson, Abby Anne Carlisle, Addy Carter, Gideon Carlisle, Lizzie Carlisle and Dylan Carlisle; and four great-great grandchildren, Lilah Pack, Waylon and Ryker Gray, and Avery Taggart.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Mary Craft Rowland; sister, Elouise Elston; brothers, Howard Rowland and Everett Rowland.
