Dariel Leroy Baxley, also known as "Night Owl", age 63, rode out of McRae, Arkansas on a Harley Davidson motorcycle on June 14, 2015. Born to Clinton (Jim) and Arline LaFernery Baxley on December 25, 1951 at Clinton, Indiana. Dariel was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donnie Baxley.
Dariel grew up farming, hunting and fishing with his family and later joined ABATE motorcycle club. He belonged to the McRae Methodist Church. He graduated from McRae High School followed by two years at Arkansas State University in Beebe, Arkansas. He joined the Arkansas National Guard, where he earned several commendations as an expert in marksmanship. He followed in his father's footsteps becoming a welder and joined the Steamfitters & Pipefitters Local # 155 in Little Rock, Arkansas and Local # 614 in Memphis Tennessee for over thirty-five years.
Survivors are his sisters, Darcy and Dianna Baxley of McRae, Debbie Baxley Morgan of Memphis, Tennessee, one brother, John Derek and wife, Peggy Baxley of Bradford, Arkansas, aunts, Wanda LaFerney of Searcy, Dot Inman and her son Randy Duncan of Jacksonville, Florida and one uncle, Hyram Loftin of Memphis, Tennessee with seven nieces and nephews and twelve great nieces and nephews, and his favorite dog, LaVerne and many cousins and friends.
Memorial service will be at McRae United Methodist Church, Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 10:30 am. Visitation with the family will be held after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to McRae United Methodist Church, Box 232, McRae, Arkansas 72102. Arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe.
