Danny Plyler, age 74, of Glenwood, received his angel wings on Monday, November 14, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on April 10, 1948, in Hot Springs, the son of Connor C. “Pete” Plyler and Willie Pearl Lambert Plyler. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, J.T and Camilla Jones; two brothers-in-law; and one nephew. On December 26, 1970, he was married to the true love of his life, Beverly Jones.
Danny was a member of the Glenwood United Methodist Church and served on the Glenwood City Council. He was employed for several years with Georgia Pacific, was the owner and operator of Jones Chevron and Plyler’s Muffler Shop and later retired from the United States Postal Service. He enjoyed working in the yard, mowing and bushhogging, and was basically a jack of all trades. In his spare time, Danny also enjoyed woodworking, stock car racing, watching old westerns, especially Gunsmoke and loved following Razorback sports.
Above all, Danny loved spending time with his family and friends, and will be fondly remembered for his love of Little Debbie’s cakes and a good cold Mountain Dew. Danny will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of over fifty-one years, Beverly “Bev” Plyler of Glenwood; his two daughters, Erica Plyler Graham and her husband, Joe, of Hot Springs and Misty Plyler of Honolulu, Hawaii; his two grandchildren, Jay Graham of Nashville, Tennessee and Camilla Graham of Hot Springs; his brother-in-law, James Eric Jones and his wife, Sally, of Fayetteville; his siblings, Kathryn “Kitty” Moore, John Wayne Plyler and his wife, Judy, and Virginia “Ginger” Stevenson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, November 18, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Joe Ray Short officiating, 209 North 3rd Street, Glenwood, AR 71943.
