Daniel Ralph Norman, 39, of Little Rock, died Thursday, May 4, 2006. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph George Norman, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Darby. He is survived by his wife, Leigh Ellen Norman; daughter, Phoebe Leigh Norman; son, Jackson Ralph Norman and his mother, Phoebe Darby Norman. Also surviving are two brothers, Matthew Dale Norman and Dillard David Norman, his wife, Catherine Grace and their children, William Blake Norman, Abigail Laura Norman, Christina Adkins, Melanie Adkins and Susan Adkins; sister, Phoebe Ellen Norman Bullard, her husband, Steven Bullard and their children, Stephanie Jean Bullard, Katie Dale Bullard, Melissa Ellen Bullard and Meggie Phoebe Bullard; father and mother-in-law, Daniel Robert and Merle Small and brother-in-law, Bradley Kyle Small.
Danny was a 1984 graduate of Pulaski Academy and received his bachelor's degree in Business in 1989 from the University of Tulsa. Following graduation, he began his career in Denver, where he sold life insurance for what was then, PFL Life Insurance Co. He later moved back to Little Rock to work in financial management with his father at Norman Capital Management. In 1999, he founded what is today the largest on-site document destruction company in Arkansas, Shred-It and in 2005, began PODS. Shred-It was a finalist in the 2004 Arkansas Business of the Year Awards. Danny was also selected for Arkansas Business 40 Under 40 in June, 2005. He was a member of Chenal Country Club, the Executive Networking Organization, sponsor of the Maumelle Sports Association and donated to many charitable organizations. His children were the light of his life. He also enjoyed fishing, the Arkansas Razorbacks and horse racing.
Visitation will be on Sunday, May 7, 2006, from 5-7 p.m. at Highland Valley United Methodist Church, 15524 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock. Funeral Service will be on Monday, May 8, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church, officiated by Rev. Kurt Boggan. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander.
