Daniel Thomas Collins of Scott, born April 22, 1948, San Francisco, California, went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 3, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Leona Collins; in-laws, Ellis and Lois Martin, sisters-in-law, Lereva Moody and Kay Collins; brothers-in-law, Billy, Carl, and Dub Martin.
He is survived by his wife, love of his life for 39 years, Virginia; son, Spc. Steven Collins (Nicole); daughter, Michelle Thomas (Barrett), all of Scott; brothers, Mike (Karen) Collins of Scott, Tom (Laquita) Collins of Columbia, California; brothers-in-law, Curley (Judy) Moody, Ellis Martin, Jr. (Kathy) of Scott, Jim (Christine) Martin of Cabot, Danny (Kathy) Martin of Ward, Mike Martin of Beebe; sister-in-law, Margaret Beard (William) of Scott; and the joy in his heart, five grandchildren, Kinslee Thomas, Cody, Ty, Noah, and D. J. Collins, all of Scott.
Dan was proud Vietnam Veteran, Purple Heart recipient, and trained soldiers at West Point Academy. He served North Little Rock, Little Rock, and Jacksonville for 21 years as a bread man for Colonial Bakery and Ideal. He lived to share love with his family. Anyone who knew Dan loved his smile that carried to his eyes and joking ways. He never met a stranger, and taught those around him unconditional love.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Mulberry Cemetery, England. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main, 758-1170. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
