Sandra Leonard Hayes

May 16, 1950 — January 20, 2022

Sandra Leonard Hayes, 71, died January 21, 2022, at her home in Ellenton, Florida.

Sandie, as she was known to her friends, was born May 16, 1950, in Weymouth, Massachusetts to Arthur and Catherine Leonard. She shared many great stories of her life growing up in Massachusetts with her brother Steve Leonard (deceased) and her sister Sue. She met her husband of 50 years, David Hayes, in Washington, DC. They had two children together, Michelle (Hayes) DuJardin and Michael Hayes. Sandie was an amazing mom and was the loudest cheerleader for her family. She was also an amazing Nana to her grandchildren who she loved dearly.

Sandie spent much of her career in healthcare administration and maintained many strong friendships after she retired. She took early retirement when her oldest grandson was born and from then on her main role was “Nana” for her grandchildren. Sandie and David retired to Florida in 2016, which had been a dream of hers for years.

Sandie is survived by her beloved husband David, her daughter Michelle (husband Chris DuJardin), her son Michael (wife Christen Hayes), her sister Sue, and eight grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes in Little Rock (8801 Knoedl Court) on Saturday, March 19th at 10:00 am.
