Dan D. Flournoy, of Lubbock, Texas, departed this life on October 12, 2006 at the age of 84. He was born on July 17, 1922 in Rochester, Texas to Jacob and Vertie Flournoy. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and his brother.
Dan graduated from Rochester High School. He enlisted in the Army and was a Staff Sergeant who served in the Battle of the Bulge, the Rhineland Campaign, and central Europe. He also drove for the Red Ball Express. Upon returning home in 1944, he married Vonnie Rea Morrow of Munday, Texas.
They settled in Odessa, Texas and lived there for many years. Dan was an accountant for a local firm. They would eventually move to the DFW area where Dan was the Chief Financial Officer for Southeastern Resources until his retirement. Dan and Vonnie retired to Lubbock in 1991. They are members of Southcrest Baptist Church.
Dan is survived by his bride of 60 years, Vonnie Morrow Flournoy of North Little Rock, his daughter and son-in-law, Reva and Steve Sears and their children Matthew and Elizabeth of Morgantown, West Virginia; his son and daughter-in-law, Jacob and Tina Flournoy and their children Daniel and Samuel of Maumelle, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be held 5:00 P.M., Saturday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel with a visitation to immediately follow the service. Interment will be in Texas at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on Friday, October 20 at 1:00 p.m.
