D. L. Tankersley , age 73, of Bismarck died Tuesday, July 10, 2007 in Little Rock. He was born June 27, 1934 in the New DeRoche Community, the son of Dewey and Nola Rea Hughes Tankersley.
D. L. was a family man who loved baseball, Quail hunting and golf. He was retired from Reynolds Metal Co. Jones Mill plant, a U. S. Army veteran, a member of Malvern Masonic Rockport Lodge #58 and a Baptist. His parents, a step-mother, Jewel Tankersley and one brother, Milton "Tank" Tankersley preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years, Shelba Allen Tankersley; two daughters, Terri Smith and husband, Tommy of Monticello, AR; Shari Gills of Bossier City, LA; six grandchildren, Brooke, Ashley, Stephanie, Katie, Taylor and Kameron; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, July 13, 2007 at Prairie Bayou Church of Christ with Bro. Kenneth Bray and Bro. Bobby Looper officiating.
Interment will be in Prairie Bayou Cemetery under direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia. Pallbearers will be A. J. Bond, Jerry Copeland, Justin Tankersley, Dale Allen, Dustin Spencer, Tyler Spencer, Mark McClard and Shelby Hughes.
