Cyrus Nelson

Cyrus Richard, “Dick”, Nelson, 82, of Little Rock, AR, formerly of Warren, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2021.  Dick was a beloved husband, devoted family man, and highly social friend and coworker.  He was born March 28, 1939, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of Cyrus and Mildred Nelson and baby brother to Eloise.

After holding managerial positions at UAMS for 28 years, Dick retired from the IT Department in 2016.  Previous employment included recruiter at the Carol Turnage agency.  Beforehand, in his 22 year long military career, Dick served many roles within the U.S. Air Force and achieved many world tours including the Vietnam War.  It was during his military career in which he met and married the love of his life, Yeu-Ying Nelson, and they settled in East End, Arkansas.  They celebrate 45 years of marriage this year.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Eloise Hassler, and her husband, Johnny, and son-in-law, Aaron Cook.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his three daughters, Christi Sproles (husband, Zan), Elizabeth Cook, and Luanne Nelson (partner, Nick); three grandchildren, Cassidy Sproles, Zachary Sproles, and Henley Cook; and several nieces and nephews.

An intimate graveside service will be held at the Arkansas State Veteran’s Cemetery, 1501 W. Maryland Avenue, North Little Rock.

Dick had a passion for gifting unique plants to his loved ones.  In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring him by sending plants that can be loved and nurtured over time to serve as a gentle reminder of his kind heart.
