Curtis "Gene" Loftin, 65, of Jacksonville passed away Friday, May 11, 2012. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service and a Vietnam veteran. He was a member of Temple B'Nai Israel. He was born September 5, 1946 in Columbus, Mississippi to the late Curtis and Ora Lee Caples Loftin. He was a constant joker who loved to tease his grandchildren and most of all he loved just being Papaw.
He is survived by his wife, of 31 years, Roxanne Loftin, of Jacksonville; son, Brian Loftin and wife, Lisa; three daughters, Dina Newlin, Kristie Burgess and husband John, and Amanda Williams and husband, Marc; grandchildren, Sam Olson, Atley Newlin, Brian Loftin II, Porter Gregory, Ryan Burgess, Joy Williams, Trevor Gregory, Ally Burgess and Liam Loftin; and brother James Loftin. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Gerald Brackin, Charles Leroy Brackin and Gerald Loftin; two grandchildren, James Andrew Williams and Paul Williams.
