Curtis R. (Buddy) Cooper, 89, went to be with the Lord on Saturday June 6, 2015 at his home in Glendale, AR.
He was born to Clayton Cooper and Nettie Taylor Cooper on February 27, 1926. After the death of his father at an early age, Clyde Payne became his stepfather. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 68 years, Mary Liles Cooper; two sisters, Delta Cooper Payne, Jean Payne Breeding and a brother Leonard (Punk) Payne; and a Granddaughter, Millicent Cooper (Millie) Taylor.
Buddy was a veteran of World War II; he served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Black Destroyer.
Buddy was an employee of 35 years for Mississippi River Transmission Corporation. His dedication earned him the position of Superintendent of the Glendale Station.
He was an advent fisherman, and loved to camp. He was able to enjoy these hobbies up to the time of his death.
Buddy had a warm smile that lit up a room. He had a strong but gentle nature that always held the family together. His witty personality would leave a smile on your face and laughter in your heart.
His survivors include a son and his wife, Keith and JoAnn Cooper of Stuarts Draft, VA, a daughter, Sheila Carter of Glendale, AR.; His grandchildren, Kim Roig (Donnie) of Pine Bluff, AR, Shaun Carter of Star City, AR, and two great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Antioch Cemetery, Antioch, Arkansas. Arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe.
