It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Courtney Larissa Hagar, known to family and friends as "Court Court," on March 21, 2025, at the age of 44. Courtney was a devoted paramedic with Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services for 18 years, dedicating her life to the service of others in some of the most challenging and urgent moments. Her compassion, skill, and unrelenting dedication to her work earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. She not only saved lives, but she changed them, positively impacting emergency scenes and the lives of those in need.
As a mentor and instructor, Courtney was a guiding light for many, always patient and ready to share her wealth of knowledge with others. Her commitment to the medical field extended beyond the job, as she was deeply involved in training the next generation of first responders. Courtney was more than a paramedic—she was a friend, a teacher, and a role model.
Outside of her professional life, Courtney was a loving and devoted mother. Her children were her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She also had a deep and lasting connection to her extended family—her friends, many of whom she considered family, were an integral part of her life. Her home was always open to anyone in need, and Courtney’s door was never closed to those who needed a meal, shelter, or simply a place to belong. She was also a foster parent, offering love and care to those who needed it most.
Courtney loved her life on the family farm. She had a passion for fishing and building Legos, finding joy and creativity in constructing intricate sets and sharing that love with her children and friends. She also played a vital role in her family's restaurant, helping to open and run it with the same dedication and heart she brought to every part of her life.
In addition to her work with her family and the community, Courtney made a significant impact as a youth sports coach, providing both guidance and mentorship to young people. She was also passionate about Emergency Medical Fishing, a program she co-founded with her EMT partner, Nick. The initiative aimed to positively impact children by connecting them with first responders who served as mentors while providing donated fishing equipment and valuable life lessons.
Courtney’s legacy is one of service, love, and an unyielding commitment to making the world a better place. She was a hero not only in the emergency medical field but also in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched, and her spirit of giving and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
