Cotsy Chenault

Cotsy Ella Rhea Chenault, 90, passed into God's arms on November 7, 2011. She was born on September 24, 1921 to the late Austin and Melissa Tinkle Rhea in the community of Kentucky near Benton, Arkansas. In addition to her parents, Cotsy was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters.
Cotsy is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 69 years, Harry K. Chenault, Sr.; her children, Pamela Chenault Robinson of Little Rock and Maj. Harry Keatts Chenault, Jr. of McDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Tamera Harris and husband, Stan of San Antonio, Texas and Jeffrey Todd McLane and wife, Angela of Colorado Springs, Colorado; great-grandchildren, James Ryan Griffin and Joshua Thomas Griffin of San Antonio, Elisabeth Cotsy McLane and Jack Thomas McLane of Colorado Springs; great-great-grandson, Tristan Flores-Griffin of San Antonio; sisters, Jewel McMonagle of New Brockton, Alabama and Virginia Smith of Cabot, Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cotsy met the love of her life, Harry, when she was 16. Harry told her at that meeting that he was going to marry her. Five years later in 1942, Cotsy and Harry married at the Chenault Family Chapel after Harry received his wings in the Army Air Corps.
Cotsy was a stay-at-home mother and was involved in many of her children's activities. She was a devoted Christian and was very active at St. Paul United Methodist Church and then at St. James United Methodist Church. She served on the board of the Methodist Children's Home in Little Rock and was the first female Chairman of the Board. Cotsy was very active in The Twentieth Century Club and served as President in 1972.
Harry and Cotsy took up golf in the 1950's. It became a favorite hobby. In 1971, Cotsy won the Ladies' Golf Championship at Pleasant Valley Country Club. She also enjoyed sewing, working in her garden and playing bridge.
Cotsy found her calling when she decided to sell real estate. She had planned to work only two years but that turned into a 32 year career. She was top agent many times over and was awarded the SMEA numerous times. Cotsy was known for selling many of Little Rock's finer homes, but whether she was selling a very expensive home or a small bungalow, she treated each buyer and seller with great dignity and respect.
We would like to give a very special thank you to her wonderful caregivers of many years: Melody Randle-Griffin, Eartha Coleman, Tanita Scott, Opal McCoy, Juanita Brown, Juvita Armstrong and Betty Amos. We would also thank Arkansas Hospice and especially Vicky McElrath, R.N. She treated Cotsy with great tenderness.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Services will be held on Friday, November 11 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James United Methodist Church, 321 Pleasant Valley Dr., officiated by Rev. Siegfried Johnson and Rev. Jack Wilson. Pallbearers will be Todd McLane, Ryan Griffin, Joshua Griffin, Robert H. Bradford, Jr, Jesse James and Ellis James. A reception at the church will follow the service. Interment will take place at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander.
