Cory Ray Beene age 24 of the Curtis Community near Arkadelphia died Sunday, May 16, 2010 in Arkadelphia. He was born December 17, 1985 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Cory was an emergency room technician at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia. He was an avid volunteer fireman, serving as a Captain for the Curtis Volunteer Fire Department and a volunteer fireman with the Arkadelphia Fire Department. Cory loved his family, friends and his beloved dog, Gunner. He enjoyed deer and duck hunting. His maternal grandparents, Arthur and Gladys Benson and paternal grandfather, Raymond Beene preceded him in death.
Survivors include his mother and father, Ray and Linda Beene of Curtis, AR; three sisters, Amy Bright and husband, Jeremy of Hollywood, AR; Becky Foster and husband, Roger of Hot Springs, AR; his twin sister, Sarah Overbey and husband, Brent of Arkadelphia, AR; his paternal grandmother, Avanell Beene of Cutis, AR; four nieces, Jaden and Jacie Bright both of Hollywood, AR; Allison and Kourtni Foster both of Hot Springs, AR.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Third Street Baptist Church with Bro. Phillip Runyan officiating with burial in Shiloh Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Bryant, Matt Slife, David Hurst, Paul Goza, Drew Goza, Daniel Benson, Donny Benson, Chad Seevers, Wes Boyce and Brian McKin. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Bright, Roger Foster, Brent Overbey, Aaron Seel, Andy Hughes, Arkadelphia Fire Department, Curtis Volunteer Fire Department, Baptist Medical Center Emergency Room Staff and employees of Goza Heating and Air. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.
