Constance Patricia Garrett

Constance Patricia Garrett of Friendship, Arkansas transitioned to heaven Saturday November 30, 2024 at Baptist Health in Arkadelphia.

She was born January 20, 1929 to Florence Grangel and Edwin Osgood in Old Town, Maine. She was later adopted by her Stepfather WIliam Lee when the family relocated to Arkadelphia, Arkansas, when Connie was in High School. She graduated from Arkadelphia High School in 1949. She attended Henderson State College (now University) before leaving prematurely to care for her mother during her illness and help their family.

On Thanksgiving day November 26, 1953 Connie married the love of her life, Warren Edward “Ed” Garrett Sr. They moved back and forth between Friendship, Arkansas (Ed’s hometown) and Wilmington, California a few times before settling in Wilmington in 1964. They raised their family alongside the other great Island Avenue families in Carson and have remained dear friends through the years. She kept Ed and their children on their toes and the neighborhood laughing. Never a dull moment with Connie.

In retirement Connie and Ed settled in Arkadelphia, Arkansas after a long career in banking at the same branch for over 30 years. At retirement she was Assistant Vice President at the Wilmington branch of Security Bank, later Bank of America. She loved her work family and kept them entertained over the years with her crazy shenanigans. Wanting to stay busy she went to work for Wanda Runyan at the Hallmark store, later working for Sue Thomas also at Sue’s Cards and gifts, she loved every minute of the years spent with these ladies and getting to know the community. She briefly worked at the Christian Bookstore enjoying time spent with Donna Twyford.

Preceding Connie in death was her husband Ed in 2013 in their 60th year of marriage. Also her great grandson Nolan Andrew Makia. Her siblings Hope Kingrey, Edwina Needham, Valedah Paven, Bruce Lee, and Terry Lee.

She is survived by her children: Warren Edward Garrett Jr. of Friendship, Arkansas, Greg Daniel (Naomi) Garrett of Murrieta, California, and Julia Garrett Hammons of Friendship, Arkansas. Her grands and great grands: Ryan Daniel (Ragina), Brayden, and Camden of Brentwood, California. Blake Andrew (Meagan) and Cillian of Murrieta, California. Britany Danielle (Marcus) Makia, Luke, Koa, and Marley of Temecula, California. Garrett Matthew (Breanna) Hammons, Payton, Bella, Hunter, Braydee, and Landry of Benton, Arkansas. Jessika Ray (Alexis) Martinez and Ember of Alexander, Arkansas. Her special sister in love Carolyn Lee of Smackover, Arkansas whom she dearly loved. Her friend Jessie Williams of Arkadelphia, Arkansas who she had many adventures with. And a host of nieces and nephews she adored.

Connie was proud of her family, especially the grands and great grands, she bragged on them all frequently. She loved them all with a fierce loyalty and would have gone to the ends of the earth for them. She loved her church family at Bismarck Pentecostal church and enjoyed her calls and cards in recent months from Bro. Van an Sis. Caye.
