Colonel Conrad Lary Beggs (USAF Retired), born in Muleshoe, Texas on August 19, 1930, and passed away on the evening of July 13, 2012. He received a BS in Agriculture from California State University, Fresno, and an MBA from George Washington University. Conrad served in The United States Air Force, from 1954 until 1975, as a pilot and, lastly, as the Base Commander of Davis-Montham AFB in Tucson, AZ. His military decorations include the Air Force Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal.
Upon retirement from the military, he became the founder and president of Sunbelt Properties, owner and president of Sunbelt North Equipment (A Kubota Tractor Dealership), and owner and president of Woodlake Farms. He was named Arkansas Tree Farmer of the year in 2004.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Audrey Dell Fraser Beggs; his brother, Lindbergh Beggs; his four children and their respective spouses, Martin and Melissa Beggs, Marjorie Beggs and Russell Altizer, Marck Beggs and Carly Cate, and Marla Beggs Nargundkar and Satish Nargundkar; six grandchildren, Collin, Ian (and wife, Cheyanne), Evan (and wife, Whitney), and Elizabeth Beggs, Alex and Zack Altizer, and Nikhil Nargundkar, and nine great-grandchildren, Ailsa and Liadan Beggs, Michael, Josh, Lily, and Nathan Beggs, Joseph, Aubrey and Waylon Beggs, and a veritable cornucopia of cousins and their assorted offspring.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at St. James United Methodist Church in Little Rock. Col. Beggs' ashes will be interred at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock with full military honors.
