Lieutenant Colonel Thomas F. Connolly, Jr. (USAF, Retired) of Sherwood, loving husband, father and grandfather left this life to be reunited with the Lord on October 13, 2010. Lt Col Connolly was loved by family and friends and was a source of inspiration to all who knew him. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Lt Col Connolly served his country for 29 years and was a veteran of three wars. He was assigned to the 490th Bomb Group, Eighth Army Air Force in World War II flying the B-17 bomber, flew in the Korean conflict in the B-29 bomber, and was assigned as a meteorologist in Saigon, Republic of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Air Force in 1971, and then was a letter carrier with the US Postal Service until his retirement in 1986.
Lt Col Connolly was preceded in death by his father, Thomas F. Connolly, Sr, his mother, Anna Meaney Connolly, his sisters Mary Louise Hoffmann, Muriel Flanagan and infant sister, Patsy Connolly.
Lt Col Connolly is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Margaret H. Connolly, sons Thomas P. Connolly (Captain, USN, Retired) and Michael F. Connolly (Lt Col, USAF, Retired), and grandsons, Thomas P. Connolly II and Sean M. Connolly. Lt Col Connolly is also survived by sisters, Margaret Hoffman, Rose Flippo, Kathleen Eggerton, Julia Myron, and brother, Richard Connolly.
The funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 18th at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 7000 JFK Blvd., North Little Rock, celebrated by Monsignor John O'Donnell, followed by interment with Full Military Honors at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
