Clyde T. Linsley, Sr., 92, of Little Rock, passed away January 13, 2011. Born in Bryant, Arkansas to Louis E. Linsley, Sr. and Ruby Irene Cook Linsley on June 7, 1918, he was a B-29 pilot with the U.S. Army Air Corps and was the last president of the Last Man's Club of the 154th Observation Squadron. He was retired from Southwestern Bell.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Louis Eldon Linsley, Jr., Joseph Lee Linsley, Ralph Everett Linsley and Elmer P. Linsley, and a grandson, Eric Bryan Linsley, he is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy K. Linsley; three sons, Clyde T. Linsley, Jr. (Nancy) of Annandale, Virginia, Richard Linsley (Martha) of Jacksonville, Arkansas and Jim Linsley (Wanda) of Little Rock; sisters, Sara Ellen Taylor of Denver, Colorado and Helen Bernice Zuber of Conway, Arkansas; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A service with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, January 19 at 10:00 a.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), officiated by Rev. Roger Armstrong. Interment will follow at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
Clyde, affectionately known as Grandfather Sir, was a loving brother, husband and father who enjoyed a laugh and a smile. He was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers ramp building crew for many years and led an active life well into his eighties. Clyde will be sorely missed.
