Clyde Everett "Sam" Haynes, 96, of Hensley passed away Friday, September 11, 2015. He was born November 4, 1918 in Saline County, Arkansas to the late Joseph and Ethel Howard Haynes. He was a United States Army veteran and retired from Reynolds Metal.

Clyde was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was 26 years old when inducted into Camp Robinson, where he had 13 weeks of training before leaving for England. He landed in Normandy on June 12, 1942, where his troop changed from the 35th division to the 79th division. During the war, he was shot in the leg with a machine gun which earned him a purple heart on July 3, 1944.
Clyde was also a member of Iron Springs Masonic Lodge #342, from 1945 to 2015. He was recently recognized for 70 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Audrey Lawhon Haynes; children, Ivy (Robert) Panzer, Sammie (Mike) Tygart, and Beverly (Johnny) Reynolds, Joan (Keith) Blocker ; grandchildren, Christy Warner, Wayne (Kelly) Bonner , Patrick (Mary) Bonner, Michael (Erin) Tygart, Josh (Belinda)Tygart, David (Chastity) Reynolds, Jodi Roark, Paige (Matt) Noles and Lindsey (Jake) Stacy and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
Memorials may be made to Salem Cemetery or East Union Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday at East Union Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday prior to service at the church. Arrangements by Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home.
