Clovis W. Henderson age 77 of Delight, AR died Wednesday, December 9, 2009 in Little Rock. He was born December 27, 1931 in Pike County the son of Clyde and Ina Lamb Henderson. Mr. Henderson served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, after which, he and his family lived in west Texas from 1955 to 1968 where he worked in the food and beer distribution business. In 1969 they returned to Delight where he was employed by International Paper Company until his retirement in the late eighties. He was lifetime member of the American Legion and a member of the Delight Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by four brothers, W. C., James, Melvin, and Kenneth Henderson
Survivors include his wife Joyce Stockton Henderson, one son, Sammy Henderson and his wife Paula of Boulder, CO, two daughters, Shirley Smothers and her husband Scott of San Antonio, TX, and Sandra Smith of Delight, three brothers, Curtis Henderson of Mineral Wells, TX and Charles and Tommy Henderson both of Delight, two sisters, Frances Harris of Emmet and Sue Horton of Benton, six grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jonathan Henderson, Amanda, Samantha, and Matthew Smothers, and Jeremy Smith.
Graveside funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday in the Delight Cemetery with Rev. Randy Hughes and Rev. Wallace Alexander officiating. Visitation will be from 3-6 PM Saturday at the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Pallbearers will be Michael, William, and Jimmy Henderson, Ray Wise, Wayne Loomis and Niles Stockton.
