Cleveland McElroy, 88, of Little Rock passed away Monday, April 16, 2012. He served during World War II in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater. Cleveland was former Mayor of Williford and was instrumental in securing the city's library. He sung in the choir at New Hope Baptist Church and often sang solos.
He was a wonderful, kind and generous man who was dearly loved by his children and grandchildren. He was a friend to everyone and loved the Lord dearly.
He is survived by his daughters, Jan Young (Ray) of Little Rock, Susan Andrews of Tyronza and Terry Lenahan (Michael), of Maumelle; grandchildren, Toni Leftwich, Kim Herring and Jason McElroy; great-grandchildren, Jordan Allen, Dakota Leftwich, Brenden Leftwich and Sean McElroy; one great-great-grandchild, Jenna Allen; and brother, Norman D. McElroy and special friend, Doris Clark, of Cherokee Village, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret McElroy; two brothers, Albert and James McElroy; and his sister, Juanita Byers.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday in the North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nlrfh.com.
