Claudie Jean Baxter Henderson

Claudie Jean Baxter Henderson, 75, of Mabelvale, Arkansas, passed on September 16, 2022 at Premier Nursing and Rehabilitation, Little Rock. She was born February 10, 1947 in Heber Springs, Arkansas, the youngest of five children born to the late Thomas “Jeff” and Anna Milligan Baxter.  She was a beautician at Helen’s Beauty Shop, Little Rock, where she was known by the nickname, “Dee”; as well as a much-loved waitress at Murry’s Dinner Theater, Little Rock.  She enjoyed cheering for the Arkansas Razorbacks and listening to country music.

Claudie was widowed when her son was five and she raised him independently, often working two jobs to support them.  She will be remembered for her strength and beauty.

Survivors include one son, James Edward Henderson of Mabelvale; a sister, Dollie Baxter Gage (Robert) of Mansfield, Arkansas; grandson, Donovan Isaiah Porter of Oklahoma and his mother, Rhonda; two brothers-in-law:  Ralph Edward Henderson (Wilma) of Jacksonville, Arkansas and James David Henderson (Kathy) of Jacksonville, Florida; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Claudie was the widow of Navy veteran, Roy Gene Henderson of North Little Rock.  She was also preceded in death by siblings:  Jossie Baxter Gage, Clifford Baxter, and Thomas Baxter.

Family will receive friends and relatives at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 N. Main Street at 5:00 PM on Saturday, September 24, 2022.  Memorial Service will follow at 6:00 PM.

She will be interred with her husband, Roy at the Little Rock National Cemetery at a later date.
