Clarice Lynch

Clarice Eloise Fowler Lynch departed from this life on April 3rd, 2008. She was the widow of Sgt. A.B. Lynch. She was born in Elk Point, South Dakota, the daughter of Clarence (Pealy) and Sophia Fuester Fowler.

She attended the University of South Dakota and taught elementary school in rural South Dakota during World War II. She served as secretary of Arkadelphia First United Methodist Church for eleven years during which time the current church was built. After the death of her husband in 1974, she returned to college and received a degree from Henderson State University with a 4.0 GPA. She worked for Group Living, Inc. with her best friend, Jane Lucas, for nearly 10 years. She considered helping people to help themselves through the wonderful programs of Group living to be the most rewarding work of her life. She remained close to many of the folks she worked with at Group living until her death.

Clarice is survived by her three sons and their families: Al (Freddie) Lynch and his wife Linda of Arkadelphia; Michel Lynch of Austin, TX, and Pat Lynch and his wife Linda of Corpus Christi, TX, grandchildren: Brooke Deaton and her husband Greg of Arkadelphia; Kyle and Dane Lynch of Kentucky; and Jake Lynch of Austin, TX; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; other survivors include one sister, Midge Kalstad of Elk Point, S. Dakota; and two brothers, Don Fowler of Alexandria, VA, and John Fowler of Elk Point, S. Dakota. All the above will dearly miss her award winning cinnamon rolls, spaghetti, bread, rolls and pies!

Visitation will be at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia, 6-8 PM Sunday, April 6th. The family will be at her new home at 2624 Evonshire, "The Gardens", Arkadelphia.

Funeral services will be at Arkadelphia First United Methodist Church at 11 AM Monday, April 7th. Clarice requested the service to be "informal", as in-no ties! This is to be a celebration of her life. A BBQ luncheon will be served in the fellowship hall following the service. Private burial will be in the National Cemetery in Little Rock, AR.
Clarice has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the newly named: Clarice Fowler Lynch Client Emergency and Needs Fund of Group Living, Inc., P. O. Box 159, Arkadelphia, AR 71923 or The First United Methodist Church, 107 N. 9th, Arkadelphia, AR 71923.
