Clarence M. Machen, 91, of Shepherd's Cove Retirement Center in Little Rock, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2006. A U. S. Air Force Veteran of World War II, he was a member of Pulaski Heights Lodge #673, F&A Mason, Past President of Park Plaza Lions Club, and was a Melvin Jones Fellow. He has been a member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church since 1958.
He is survived by his wife, Strelsa Morris Machen; son, Lewis John Machen (Peggie); daughter, Sarah Frances Karrant (Jim); sister, Sue Machen Merritt; grandchildren, Merritt Maham (Sabrina), Jennifer Hoelzeman (Paul), Sarah Elizabeth Karrant and fiancé, Brian Richardson, and Mary Frances Karrant; and a host of nieces and nephews. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis John and Laura Frances Dobson Machen and seven brothers and sisters.
There will be visitation on Thursday, November 9, from 6-8 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock. The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 10, at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, 4823 Woodlawn, Little Rock, officiated by Rev. Lynn Lindsey and Dr. Jeff Hampton. Private burial with Military Honors will take place in Oliver Cemetery in White County. Memorials may be made to Shepherd's Cove Retirement Center, #3 Shepherd's Cove, Little Rock, AR 72205.
