Clara Newton

Clara Newton, 93, of Little Rock, passed away April 18, 2014. She was born August 16, 1920 to Fred and Jeannett Shank. Clara was a homemaker who loved to quilt and work in her garden. She was very faithful to attend church, teaching Sunday school until she was physically unable to attend.

Clara is survived by her daughter, Patricia Newton Bass (Cooper) of Little Rock; two sons, William Newton, Jr. (Claudia) of Little Rock and Fred Newton (Susie) of North Little Rock; six grandchildren, Lynda Gaiser (Dr. Jack Gaiser), James Bass (Bonnie), Ashley Harrington (Nathan), Andrea Newton, Carroll Newton, and Virginia Newton; seven great-grandchildren, Robert Gaiser, Savannah Gaiser, Jason Pontiff, Kristina Brown, Taylor Harrington, Jacob Harrington, and River Harrington; and one great-great grandchild, Emmalee Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Newton, Sr.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Valley Ranch Nursing Center for their care and support.

Graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the Morgan Cemetery in Little Rock. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170.
