Melissa Kaye Wedgeworth, 34, and her son, Christopher, 7, died April 15, 2011 in a tragic accident at their home. They died as they lived, holding one another close.
Melissa is survived by her daughter, Caelyn, 2; her mother, Diana Kaye Wilson; her stepmother, Diana Wedgeworth; her big sister, Cassie Crofford, husband, Danny-Joe and beloved nephews, Austin and Andrew. She is also survived by her Aunt Sandi and Uncle Tom Maloney, cousin, Jennifer and husband, John Lester and cousin, Keri Renfro; Aunt Sandy Floyd, Uncle Woody Wilson and Aunt Lesa and husband, Steve Strange.
Christopher is survived by his sister, Caelyn and other siblings; his father, Steven Higgins; grandparents, Patricia and Roosevelt Sanders; loving uncles, Tony Sanders, Brian Sanders, Michael Sanders, Joseph Higgins and Terrance Higgins; and auntie, Donna Higgins.
Both were predeceased by Randy Wedgeworth, her father and his grandfather; Louise Wilson, her grandmother and his great-grandmother, and Melissa's infant daughter, Kayela, Christopher's baby sister.
Melissa was a compassionate, caring nurse who spent most of her professional career working for Hospice Home Care. Christopher was a frequent visitor at Hospice, and his happy spirit blessed all those he met.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 21 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church 12415 Cantrell Rd, Little Rock, AR 72223 with The Reverend Edwin Wills officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hot Springs. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 20 from 6 - 8 p.m at Little Rock Funeral Home.
