Christine Spradlin Scoggins

Christine Spradlin Scoggins, beloved mother, Grandma Teen, Grandma, Aunt Punk, and friend went home to be with Jesus, her Savior, on April 14, 2023 at the age of 98. Christine was born on December 13, 1924 in Okolona, Arkansas to Arthur Ross Spradlin and May White Spradlin. She was the fifth of five children, Vesta Lucille Spradlin, Ovelle Spradlin Barkdoll, Dale Hugh Spradlin, and Ruby Spradlin McCarver.

Christine was an efficient, hard worker. She worked at Jefferson Regional Medical Center as a receptionist in the radiology department until she was 78. She enjoyed having a nice yard and mowed it herself until she was 95. Christine loved everyone and everyone loved her. She was devoted to her family and loved them well. She opened her home and heart and enjoyed having company. When she knew company was coming, she could whip up a cake at a moment’s notice. No one ever left her house hungry. She doted on her grandkids. She was never sick, just tired.

She is preceded in death by her father, mother, brother and sister-in-law, Bettye Jo Needham Spradlin, sisters and brothers-in-law, Lou Barkdoll and Kenneth McCarver, son, Michael Travis “Burger” Scoggins and his wife, Cindy, son, Johnny Ross Scoggins, and former husband, Travis Virgil Scoggins.

She is survived by her daughter, Bettye Scoggins Collier, son-in-law, Leland Collier, son, Timothy Scott Scoggins, and daughter-in-law, Sally Smykla Scoggins. Her grandchildren and their families include, Teresa Stallings Glass and children, Zachary Patrick and Zoie Michelle; Anthony Dix Stallings and wife, Setsuko; Nilima Renukdas; Rachel Scoggins Brick, husband, Larry, and children Cecelia Niederriter, Sally Schumacher, Riley Schumacher; Ashley Scoggins Smith and children, Cash, Carter, and Bonham; Erin Scoggins Marks and son, Jaxson Kohl; Jordan Scott Scoggins, wife, Karen, and children, Treyce Scott, Titus Oubre, and Tinsley Kaye; and Jessica Scoggins Lamb, husband, Taylor, and children, Everly James, Milo Taylor, and Sylvia Christine. Her beloved niece, Kay Spradlin Pantier and her son, Todd Dale, his wife, Kate, and their children, Logan Paul, Olivia Elizabeth, and Silas Aaron also survive her.

Graveside service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 18th at Smyrna Cemetery near Okolona.
