Chiu Mei Stokes, 75 of North Little Rock passed away peacefully surrounded lovingly by her four children on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. She was known by her friends as "Arkie". She volunteered at Friendly Chapel Church of the Nazarene and was a member of the Moose Lodge. She is survived by two sons, Robert Elton Stokes, Jr. (Lou), of Sherwood and Jerry Wayne Stokes, of North Little Rock; two daughters, Terri Lynn Jones (Michael) of Alexander and Sherry Mei Stokes, of North Little Rock; two sisters; three brothers; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Chiu had many dear friends and was loved by everyone who knew her. She lived her life with a fierce independence. She had a practical wisdom and a strong sense of courage that allowed her to leave behind all she knew in pursuit of love and family. She constantly sacrificed time and energy for her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her. Her memory is constant in our heart.
Memorials may be made to Friendly Chapel Church of the Nazarene, 116 S. Pine Street, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72114.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday at North Little Rock Funeral Home. Burial will be in Edgewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Online obituary at www.SmithFamilyCares.com .
