Chestamae Sturch

Chestamae "Pat" Herron Sturch, age 78, of the Curtis Community near Arkadelphia, passed away Monday, November 2, 2015. She was born February 19, 1937 to Chester and Emma Taylor Herron. Pat was retired from Southwestern Bell Co. after twenty-eight years of service and was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.

Pat was actively involved in volunteer work with the Telephone Pioneers and the Senior Adult Center in Gurdon. She was instrumental in donating dictionaries to the local schools and Literacy Kits to newborn parents at hospitals for the Telephone Pioneers. For the last several years, Pat was seen nearly every day at the Gurdon Senior Adult Center. She never met a stranger and thoroughly enjoyed her volunteer work.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Kimberly McLarry and one great-grandson, Camden Lee Courange.

Survivors are her husband, Floyd Sturch; three sons, Gregg (Barbara) Winchell of Lufkin, Texas, Jeff Winchell of Jenson Beach, Florida, Rusty (Anita) Sturch of Benton; three daughters, Jana (Lee) Courange of Canadian, Texas, DeLane (Jeff) Besancon and Renea Landreth both of Benton; three brothers, Bobby Joe (Chris) Herron of Curtis, Johnny (Trecia) Herron of Arkadelphia, Kenneth (Tanya) Herron of Curtis; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends.

Services will be 10:00 am Thursday, November 5th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia with Jonathan Malone and Jerry Hawley officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may made to the Senior Adult Center in Gurdon.
