Cherry Langston

Cherry Ruth Langston of Beebe, Arkansas, passed away Monday, August 29, 2011. Born near Newport on April 23, 1931, Cherry was preceded in death by her parents Dave and Nellie Ward Sexton, and her husband Howard Frank Langston. Cherry is survived by sons David H. Langston and wife Jo, James W. Langston and wife Tricia, all of Beebe, and son Bruce F. Langston of North Little Rock. Her beloved grandchildren are Jamie Langston, Jeffery Langston, both of Memphis, Nikki Langston, Renee' Gordon, Andrea Glenn of Beebe, and Shannon Ruple of Hot Springs; great-grandchildren are Alyssa, Blake and Rylee Gordon, all also of Beebe.
As the wife of a career Air Force person, Cherry traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe and North Africa. Mrs. Langston served her community by working the poll during elections, and as a recorder with the Cotton Office. An avid fan and armchair coach, Cherry was interested in all things Razorback. Although a skilled drawing artist, Cherry chose a career as wife, mother and homemaker. Cherry was especially proud of her world-class pie making skills. Her favorite times were the holidays when she could gather her family around her. Cherry considered her greatest accomplishment to be raising her sons, and watching them grow into fine young men. She will be greatly missed by them, and all who knew her.
Family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2011, at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe, with funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
