Charlotte Ann Voss, 68, of McAlester, passed on to her reward on Jan. 7, 2025.
Charlotte Voss was born on Feb. 6, 1956 in Little Rock, Ark. to Carl and Mabel Voss. Her family moved to Ft. Smith when she was a child. She attended Fairview Elementary School and Ramsey Junior High School. When the family relocated back to Little Rock, Charlotte went to Henderson Junior High, then to Hall High School, where she graduated in 1974. Charlotte and her family attended Pulaski Heights Baptist Church.
Charlotte had many exceptional traits, one of which was building and maintaining the friendships she made along the way, even as far back as elementary school. Charlotte was a friend to all and those friendships were for life. Charlotte’s sharp memory and passion for maintaining friendships was very important to her. Many conversations with Charlotte would include: “Do you remember…” and would always be followed up by an update on that friend. Charlotte had a huge heart and found joy in serving others.
Most people knew Charlotte through her work with Shipley Donuts. She spent many years working as the manager for Shipley Donuts where she was able to use two of her special talents; talking with people and baking! Charlotte continued this gift of baking by blessing her friends on special occasions with strawberry pies.
Charlotte loved her family fiercely and even referred to her nieces and nephews as her own. She loved keeping up with ALL their activities on social media. After making a post, you could be sure who the first one to comment and tag herself was! She loved celebrating and being a part of her family.
Charlotte also loved playing games and had “The Voss” Competitive spirit. Her smile would light up as she played, and won, card games or the family favorite, Clothespin challenge. So many lessons can be learned and passed down by Charlotte’s passion for life and people. Her beautiful smile was contagious. The loyalty and love that she displayed for her loved ones is something we all should strive to replicate in our own lives. Our peace comes from knowing that Charlotte is with her Savior and shining her light and smile through eternity.
Charlotte is survived by her 2 brothers, Carl Voss and wife Linda and Roger Voss and wife Cynthia; her sister, Gloria Kemp; and her nieces and nephews, Ginger and John Schmidt, and their children, Jalana, and her children, Kenzie, Jessica and Emma and Jake; Angie and Scott Nelson and their children Mallory and Lanie; Kim and Charlie Aitkens and their children, Andrew and Cole; Rick and Mona Gayle Voss and their children Daric, Brayson, and Carsten; Rebecca Voss land her children, McKane and Karli, and Raylea; Piper and Ryan Leonard and their daughter, Morgan; Matthew and Jessica Voss; and Rachel and Nick Emerson and their children, Carter, Cannon, Claira Kay, and Corali.
