Charles Frederic Travis, 64, of Morrilton, passed away November 19, 2015. He was born in Lonoke, Arkansas to Duaine and Janice Fort Travis and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of Vietnam. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and was retired from the Pine Bluff Chemical Activity, Pine Bluff Arsenal as Lead QA Specialist. In 1976 he was named Craftsman of the Year by Bill Clinton. He was also awarded the Productivity Excellence Award by the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon in 1986.
Preceded in death by his father and a sister, Judith Ann Travis, he is survived by his wife of 20 years, Tammie Via Travis; children, Jassen Travis (Katherine) of Conway, Nathan Travis (Jami) and Daniel (Miki) Travis, both of Redfield, and Kurt Elms of Junction City, Kansas; sister, Nancy Bridgman (Larry) of Lonoke; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 24 beginning at 12:30 p.m., followed by the service at 1:30 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), officiated by Pastor Tony Lawhon. Military Honors will be by the 189th Airlift Wing, Little Rock Air Force Base.
