Charles Sylvester Ross, Jr., 81, of Little Rock, passed away Friday, April 28, 2006. Born October 29, 1924 in West Plains, Missouri, he was the son of Charles S. and Phoebe Ellen Collens Ross. He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Verleane, and his brothers, Basil, Earl and Wayne. He is survived by his son, Charles S. Ross III and his wife, Laurie Ann; his sister, Shirley Mask and two grandchildren, Catherine and Jane Ross. Charles was retired from the Air Force and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. In World War II, he was with General Patton's Third Army. He was also a Mason.
A Memorial Service with military honors will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, with Chaplain Travis Smith officiating. Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Veterans Home, 4701 W. Charles Bussey, Little Rock, AR 72204.
