Charles Lee “Rusty” Standerfer, age 73, of Mount Ida, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022.
He was born on February 24, 1949, in Hot Springs, the son of Dick Standerfer and Maxine Austin Standerfer. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Larry Standerfer. On December 30, 1983, he was married to Darla Wright.
Rusty was a United State Air Force veteran and served in Vietnam as a military policeman at the Da Nang Air Force Base. He would later go on to serve in the Army Reserves, National Guard and retiring from the Air National Guard with a combined twenty-two years of service. He also retired from the Army Corp of Engineers as a park ranger on Lake Ouachita. Rusty enjoyed fishing and he and Darla loved to travel.
He is survived by his wife, Darla Standerfer of Mount Ida; two sisters, Daphna Jones of Mount Ida and Vonda Brown and her husband, Eudell, of Mena; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 14, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Robbie Loudermilk officiating.
Visitation will be Monday, 1:00 PM until service time, at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Budger McCarter, Cody Roberts, Brandon Jackson, Charlie Austin, Byron Erickson and Stacy Sigman.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Arkansas Hospice Inpatient, Hot Springs.
