Charles Ray Skipper, 86, of Cabot passed away Monday, March 14, 2011. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, serving in the South Pacific. After leaving the service, he graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College, which is now named UCA. He taught school at Smackover, Dumas and Scott where he was principal and coached their first football team. He also taught at Bayou Meto and North Little Rock. He taught at Sylvan Hills Jr. High School and was the assistant coach and principal. He finished his teaching career at North Pulaski High School.
He is survived by his wife, Lemeta Roberts Skipper, of Cabot; brother, Billy F. Skipper and wife, Patsy, of Hot Springs; two sisters-in-law, Laura Rivest and husband, Jerry, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Helen Roberts Jones, of Port Royal, South Carolina; three nephews, B.R. Skipper, of Hot Springs, Steve Jones and wife, Cindy, of Charleston, South Carolina and Michael Jones, of Port Royal, South Carolina; great-nephews, Ronny Skipper, Mark, Michael, Jeremy, Corey and Graham Jones; and one great-niece, Erika Skipper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mary Skipper and brother, James Skipper.
