Charles Richard "Buddy" Harris, age 90, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, formerly of Point Cedar, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, January 12, 2016. He was born on April 4, 1925, in Distall, Mississippi, the son of Vice Lou and William Buford Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Rachel Ward of Ozark, Arkansas. Buddy was a long-time resident of the greater New Orleans area, and had resided in Ponchatoula, Louisiana for the past sixteen years. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, European corridor. Buddy was a retired member of the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 60, out of New Orleans, Louisiana. Buddy is survived by his beloved wife and companion of over 30 years, Kathleen Harris of the home; his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Don Humphrey of Tucson, Arizona; stepdaughters, Sharon Reames and Lisa and Ronnie Bellocq; and treasured friend, JoAnn Hitt of Livingston. Services will be held at 1:15 PM, Monday, January 18, 2016, in the Philippi Church of Christ with Bro. Luke Henson officiating Visitation will be held Monday, 12:00 PM until 1:15 PM, at the church prior to the services. Interment with military honors provided by the U.S. Army, will be in the Philippi Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
