Charles R. Adams, age 91, of Amity, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012. He was born on February 16, 1921, at Amity, the son of Oliver Perry Adams and Mary Elizabeth Motley Adams. On October 15, 1960, he was married to Carla Horn Adams, who preceded him in death on May 22, 2009. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes and the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded five bronze stars. He was a member of Caney Valley Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his stepson, Ed Garrett of Bonnerdale; his granddaughter and her husband, Cammie and Robert Simmons of Amity; his great-granddaughter, Sonya Simmons of Amity; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 4, 2012, in the Caney Valley Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Keith Howell officiating. Visitation will be held Friday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Caney Valley Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
