Charles Owens, Sr.

Charles Edward “Chuck” Owens Sr., 85, of North Little Rock passed from this life on May 6, 2021 at his home. He was born February 17, 1936 in Benton, Illinois to the late Willard Z. and Thelma L. (Gant) Owens, but was raised by his aunt Ruth and uncle Cleo Johnson. Mr. Owens was a twenty-two year veteran of the United States Air Force and the United States Army. He bravely served during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of the Bronze Star commendation. His hobbies included woodworking, cooking, sewing, listening to and recording music, and reading. He retired as the Maintenance Supervisor for M.M. Cohn after twenty-seven years of faithful and dedicated service. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in North Little Rock, where he and his family prepared and served many, many meals. He also served several years as president of the local chapter of Aid Association for Lutherans.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-two years, Fay Alice Owens, and his siblings Don Owens, Vivian Owens, Janet Culver, and LaDean Lasley.

Survivors include his children, James (Marlene) Owens, Charles Owens Jr.; granddaughter, Amanda L’Heureux; sister, Leona Heerboth; and sister-in-law, Sammy Warren. Other survivors include a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm, Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend David Vandercook officiating. Interment will follow at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 6:00pm until 8:00pm, Friday, May 21, 2021 at the funeral home.
