Charles Newton Osment, of Little Rock passed away June 2, 2012 at the age of 68. He was born June 20, 1943 to Neil and Janice Osment. He spent most of his childhood in Earle, Arkansas and always remembered it with fondness. After moving to Searcy he graduated from Searcy High School. He attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, which he very much enjoyed, and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science. He was the top student in his class. He also held an MBA from Louisiana Tech, where he graduated as Valedictorian, and an associate degree in Respiratory Therapy from UAMS. He was a respiratory therapist at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock for over 25 years.
Charles had a great love for the outdoors and always enjoyed gardening, hiking and plant identification. He had a special talent for making and building and was known among his family and friends for his woodworking projects and handmade walking sticks.
What Charles loved most, was spending time with his children. Their favorite memories of him include going to Oaklawn in the spring, watching the Travelers play in the summer and going to carnivals in the fall. He loved choosing and decorating a Christmas tree with his kids. Even the small things, like front porch conversations or games of golf were cherished by both him and his children.
His children remember him as an amazing and supportive family man who was loved by all who knew him for his kind, caring and selfless nature. He was always smiling and making others smile with his masterful storytelling, dry wit, and jokes. He is also remembered for his sweetness and generosity; he never missed visiting a sick loved one. His love, smiling face, and teasing humor will be greatly missed.
Charles was preceded in death by his mother and father, Janice and Neil Osment; nephew, Chris Osment; and several aunts and uncles who were dear to him. He is survived by his wife, Becky; stepdaughter, Sarah Kline (Darrel) and three grandchildren; his daughters, Kathryn (Brandon Gray) and Emily; son, Colin; sister, Laurie; brother, Neil (Virginia) and numerous family members in Jonesboro, Texas and Colorado. He is also survived by numerous friends at Baptist Hospital.
