Charles Wilson

Charles Newell Wilson died Friday, March 17, 2017. He was born on November 8, 1942 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to the late Charles "Newell" Wilson and Norma Faye Wilson. Charles received his Bachelor and Master degrees from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. While there, he played for the Razorback Basketball Team and lettered in Tennis.

Charles was a teacher/coach for 34 years with 32 of those years spent in Fayetteville and Pulaski County School systems. He was the initial basketball coach at North Pulaski High School where he retired in 1997. Charles was named the High School Basketball Coach of the Year by the Arkansas Democrat Gazette in 1984. He had a great love of reading and playing golf. Travel was always a passion and his great goal of visiting all seven continents was achieved in December of 2015.

Charles is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jae Edwards Wilson. He is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Kelly Wilson of Suffolk, Virginia and Chad and Heidi Wilson of Bigelow, Arkansas, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Other survivors include a special cousin, Betty Weathers and her husband, Sam, as well as Steven Wilson's mother, Janet Wyatt Wilson.

The family wants to express a special thanks to Stephen Bolden for his compassion and care of Charles.

Services will be held on Monday, March 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), (501)224-2200. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Pulaski County Humane Society.
