Charles Mathis, Jr.

Charles Mathis, Jr. passed to his heavenly home on January 20, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on January 24, 1937 to the late Charles “Sneaky” Mathis, Sr. and Ethel Stewart.  Charlie was preceded in death by infants, John Charles and Sara Marie Mathis.

Charlie served in the Navy and retired from the NLR Post Office after forty-three years.  He was an avid reader, fan of the NFL, and enjoyed fishing.

Charlie is survived by the love of his life, Kathryn Diane Mathis, his wife of sixty-one years; sons, Charles Mathis III (Sarah) and Michael Mathis (Sherri); grandsons, Charles Mathis IV, Jack Mathis, Kevin (Kristin) Butler and Patrick (Becca) Butler; great-grandson, Caleb; sister, Loraine Jenkins; and brother, Al (Peggy) Mathis.

Special thanks to Baptist Health Hospice nurses and Gena, to VA nurse, Rose Ann, and the love shown by nieces and nephews.  Memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church, 6150 Remount Road, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72118.

Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m., the Rosary at 11:30 a.m., and the Mass of Christian Burial at noon, January 23, 2019 at St. Anne Catholic Church.    Burial with Military Honors will be at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery Thursday, January 24 at noon.
